House rules

No stress

The most important thing right now is to relax – it’s VACATION TIME!! We hope you enjoy every minute of it. As for the house rules? Simple: treat the apartment with respect. So no excessive noise, no smoking, and please don’t break anything. You’ll find more details below, but don’t forget: the golden rule is… “no stress”! :-)

Check-in & Key Boxes

Did you retrieve the key from the key box in the mailbox? Please don’t forget to close the box properly and turn the code back to a different combination for safety! If you arrived late and used the key box at Residence Hélène, please return the keys immediately, close the box securely, and scramble the code. Thank you!

Front Door

You have received 2 sets of 2 keys each. The larger key is for the electric front door on the street side. This door locks automatically between 7 PM and 7 AM, so during those hours you will need the key. During the day, the door opens without a key, but you may need to give it a firm push. If you lose a set of keys, we charge €90 for the large key and €75 for the small one.

Sheets and Towels

Bed linen and towels are not included in the rental price.
Would you like to rent a linen package? It’s available for €15 per person. Please let me know in advance, as this is arranged through an external service.
Payment can be made by bank transfer to BE54 3774 5794 3097, in the name of Albatrosstraat.
Reference: name of the guest – Albatros – linen – number of persons.

The linen package includes: fitted sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase, one large and one small towel per person.
The towels are not for beach use.

Bed sizes & sleeping comfort:

Master bedroom

• Queen-size bed with an Emma Sleep Hybrid II mattress (160 x 200 cm)

• Duvet: Emma Sleep Wolkendekbed (200 x 200 cm)

• Pillows: Emma Diamond (40 x 70 cm)

Bedroom with bunk bed

• Bunk bed with two single beds (each 90 x 200 cm)

• Duvets: 140 x 200 cm

• Pillows: 40 x 60 cm

• This room also includes a sofa bed for one person (85 x 180 cm). Please note: the sofa bed offers less comfort than a regular bed and is not recommended for adults.

Coffee

The coffee machine (Magimix) works with Nespresso capsules. Don’t forget to bring your favourite capsules.

Toilet paper

Toilet paper is provided. Please use only the toilet paper supplied and do not dispose of wet wipes, nappies or toilet fresheners in the toilet.

​

Induction cooktop, oven & extractor hood

All appliances are Siemens.

• The induction cooktop is operated via touch controls.

• The oven is located directly underneath and measures 60 cm in width and height, offering plenty of space for all your dishes.

• The extractor hood is operated by gently pulling the stainless steel panel towards you. The control buttons for lighting and extraction are located just behind it.

Dishwasher

The Siemens dishwasher can be used on the Auto or Eco programme. If you run a cycle shortly before departure, there is no need to wait for it to finish. I will take care of unloading the dishwasher for you.

Wifi & TV

The wifi network is called Proximus-Home-5B58.
The TV has Proximus Pickx and you can also connect your own Netflix account. If the TV isn’t working as expected, try unplugging it for a few seconds and then plugging it back in.

Waste Sorting

DURING YOUR STAY: You can sort your waste in the storage room in the apartment, located between the WC and the bathroom. There are separate bins for PMD waste and residual waste: instructions are available on-site. You can also place paper, cardboard, and glass there. New trash bags for the bins in the toilet and kitchen can be found under the sink or in the storage room.
You can only put waste out on the street if you buy a bag from the municipality of Knokke, put your waste in it, and place it outside on Wednesday or Sunday after 6:30 PM. You can check the waste collection schedule here: Knokke-Heist Waste Calendar. Important: Tenants are not allowed to use the waste cellar on floor -1.

UPON DEPARTURE: Before you leave, you can take your residual waste and glass to the designated underground containers at Graaf D'ursellaan, near August Beernaert Street. Residual waste must always be placed in a closed plastic bag. The use of a Knokke-Heist official bag is NOT required. Depositing residual waste in an underground container costs €2. Glass can be disposed of for free. Since the containers for PMD and cardboard are too far from the apartment, you can leave these in the storage room (between the WC and bathroom). Important: Tenants are not allowed to use the waste cellar on floor -1. Address of the containers and other info can be found here.

High Chair & Games

There is a high chair in the storage room, which you are free to use. In the wall cabinet in the living room, you will find a selection of games, books, and comics. Feel free to use them, but please make sure to put all the pieces back in the box after playing. If you’d like to take a book home to finish reading, no problem, just send it back to me later by post!

​

Noise

We kindly ask you to be mindful of the other residents. Please try to keep noise to a minimum between 10 PM and 10 AM. Thank you in advance!

Gas, Electricity & Water

These are included in the price, provided you use them reasonably. Usage is monitored via Google Nest. If you would like to check the status, feel free to ask.

Departure

Check-out is no later than 11 AM. If you leave earlier, please let me know.
If you rented sheets and towels, please place them in the bathroom before leaving. Also, make sure the thermostat is turned off, no dirty dishes are left, and the waste has been sorted. If the dishwasher is still running and you need to leave, don’t worry, I’ll unload it for you. Click here for all information about check-out.

Parking

Parking on the street is not free. Use the 4411 app and enter code KH13 for the correct zone (orange zone). For free parking, you can park in Zeebrugge, just past the end of the dike on the right. Click here for more information on parking. Electric bikes may not be charged in the basement, and bringing them down is very difficult due to a steep staircase.
